| Gil Aust grew up poor on a family farm in Geiger, Alabama. At one time,
his dad worked three jobs leaving Gil to run the farm. Many times after
football practice, Gil fed cattle using a flashlight. It was on this farm
and in the Geiger Methodist Church that Gil learned Christian values, hard
work, and responsibility. These principles shape his life and his view
of America. |
 |
It was no easy road for Gil Aust. He worked to pay his own way through
college and medical school. He knows the value of education and wants
control of our schools in the
hands of local parents and teachers, not Washington bureaucrats.
After his residency, Gil moved to Huntsville to set up his medical practice
and began true service to the people of North Alabama.

On May 15, 1996, Gil's father was beaten and murdered during broad
daylight in his Geiger country store. His father's killer still walks the
streets. In a town where people once didn't lock their doors at night,
an innocent man was senselessly murdered -- and nothing was done. His father's
death had a profound impact on Gil and deeply motivates him today. |
|
Gil will be tough
on criminals and drug dealers. No one should see a loved one lost to a
senseless crime. No one. Our families must feel safe in their own neighborhoods.
He knows that we must protect law abiding citizens' right to keep and bear
arms.
Growing up on
a family farm, he knows the importance of agriculture to our country. |
|
| Gil built a
business from the ground up and can bring new business to our area. He
will work to replace unsteady, lower-paying jobs with more reliable, better
paying ones. He supports a simpler, fairer tax system and a balanced budget.
Gil is pro-life
and supports prayer in school. |

Gil Aust will
be a leading advocate for a strong national defense and will fight for
new and existing tactical and strategic defense projects. A strong defense
does not mean unlimited foreign aid, which he opposes.
Looking to the
future, Gil wants to reduce the size and scope of government, starting
with unnecessary federal programs and regulations. We must reduce
government spending starting with giveaway welfare programs and illegal
immigration.
As a doctor Gil has
worked to help families and serve people. Gil has treated hundreds of patients
on Medicare. He knows the system must be protected for our seniors. He
wants to return free market forces to medicine, reducing heath-care costs
for working families and put them back in control.
He knows that to truly help families, he must fight to change
Washington. It is the politicians who will say one thing and do another,
who are trying to keep a job rather than do a job, that are letting us
down. Gil doesn't just talk about the issues, he has lived them. Gil Aust
is a fighter who has built a career helping people and solving problems,
not a follower who has spent a career trying to get re-elected.
