  • GardenNet, the premier garden center on the Internet. Read The Ardent Gardener, the on-line gardening magazine; go shopping or just browse. A neat place to spend a rainy afternoon.

    by their experts.

includes a wealth of information under topics like The Teaching Garden, the House Plant Room, Internet Resources, and offers links to relevant Usenet newsgroups and gardens to visit, both virtual and real. Meander through the nooks and crannies here, browse the Sources list, which carries a listing of books, catalogs and other tools under categories such as Bulbs, Geraniums, Organic Growing Supplies and even Carnivorous plants. There are many special topic web pages listed (bonsai, daylilies, hydroponics, strawberries, water gardening), Collections, National Plants Database access, glossaries, and lists (a butterfly garden plant list).
  • The Plants By Mail FAQ - - maintained by Joe Robinson (since 1995) and created by Peter Leppik "is intended to introduce readers to the world of buying plants by mail order and also to serve as a central clearinghouse for information about contacting various mail order plant houses." The site includes a list of companies to avoid.  Get the real scoop about mail-order plant companies from real customers.
  • The Paw Paw Patch - - Here is where you can learn all you ever wanted to know about this tantalizing fruit,
including how to join the Paw Paw Society. Thanks, Barbara and Dale, for turning us on to this gem.
  • New Crop - Purdue University Horticulture. And this: more on the Paw Paw.
  • Plants Database - has more than 54,000 plants and 12,000 images; gardeners from around the world add their own comments, images, and advice.

Recipes

  • Recipe Finder The Recipe Finder is a search tool that lets you instantly access any recipe. Specify ingredients, cooking method, courses, time, season, region or dietary preferences and the Recipe Finder will provide you with all the recipes that meet your criteria.  It's pretty fun!
  • Betty Crocker  Betty has a week of menus for you, and the recipes, and she will even compile your shopping
list. She has another feature that I like called What's On Hand; you choose the ingredients ... Betty finds a recipe for you. I chose "bananas" and she came up with 13 recipes for me using bananas!
