Blackberry Cobbler
Diana Holland Faust

Here's the cobbler I make. Depending on the amount of blackberries you have, you can make half the recipe or you can double it. It is so basic and easy, it is ideal for a vacation cottage where you may have come upon some berries.
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
cinnamon (ground)
4 c. fresh blackberries
Place butter in an 8 x 10 x 2" pan and put in a warm oven to melt the butter. In a bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir in the milk and blend until smooth.
Pour the blackberries into the baking pan, over the melted butter and shake some ground cinnamon over them.
Pour the batter over top. Bake in a 375-degree oven for 40 minutes or until topping is browned and crisp.
I do this with peaches, too, which come into season about the time the blackberries are finished.
