New Research Center for Wayne County Area Researchers
The Johnston County Heritage Center cut the ribbon on it's new building on April 15, 2000. 
It Is located at the corner of Third and Market Streets (Hwy. 70 business) in Smithfield. 
In addition to materials on Johnston County, the new center houses a large collection of 
materials on other eastern NC counties, including Wayne. 
They have full time staff who are familiar with the entire collection.
Hours: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Tuesday - Friday and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday. 

Wayne County Historical Association
The address for the Wayne County Historical Association is

Goldsboro, NC  27533-0665   Dues: $10 per year. 

The purpose of the Association is the discovery, preservation and dissemination of knowledge about the history of Wayne County and the State of North Carolina.   Note from webmaster Diana Faust:  This address may no longer be active.  I removed a dead link in June 2003 and I have not find an address for WCHA on the state site at http://www.obcgs.com/ncsocities.htm.   If you have a postal address please provide it to me.


Waynesborough Historic Village
 Waynesborough Historic Village is located on the western side of Goldsboro on Hwy 117 bypass.

Wayne County Museum
Founded in 1986 and located in the historic district of Goldsboro, the Wayne County Museum strives to educate and entertain people of all ages by offering varied and diverse exhibits.  Part of the North Carolina Civil War Trail, the museum hosts a diorama of the Battle of Goldsborough Bridge.  The museum is free.
