My 3rd great grandfather was Sanders Pinkney Cox, d. 1882 in Greene Cty., NC. Was son of Micajah Cox Jr. (1784-1837) and Sarah Hollowell of Wayne and grandson of Micajah Cox Sr. and Louise Lancaster of Wayne. Would love to know how name Pickney came into this family. There was/is a crossroads on north side of Neuse by name of Pinkney but can't find out why.

John Roberts of Craven County had at least one son, John Roberts who was married to Susan Magness. They had at least one son, Henry Roberts who was married to Nancy Smith, a descendent of William Carrington Smith of England. Other names of interest in the Roberts Tree are: Henry Roberts, Nancy Roberts, Richard Roberts, John William Parker, J. W Ward, Elkanah Fields, Cullen Hardy Talton, Mildred Talton, U. J. Looking for any info. on Daniel Landmon Howell, born 4/12/1828, possibly in SC. Married Charity Flowers Howell from Wayne Co; children were: Benjamin, b. 1850, Marshall Thaddeus, b. 2/15/1852, Mary Ann, b. 1856 and Martha Lucresy, b. 1859. Daniel was killed in Civil war between May 12 and June 17, 1864. Seeking information on marriage of Bessie Lou Hill and Paul Edward Braddock. I do not know where the wedding took place. Nor do I know the year. I only have an invitation which states the date as Wednesday, 8 April. My guess is 1896 or possibly 1903. I know Bessie Lou Hill was the daughter of A.F. and Mary, or Martha Thompson Hill. The mother was born in Wayne County, NC. She was a daughter of Josiah and Catherine Lilly Thompson. I have much information on the Thompson family mentioned above, and will be happy to share what I have.

I am trying to trace my family history back to England. My grandparents Lloyd Barnes and Matha Betire Holland came from Wayne County. I know that my great grandfather John A. Barnes built a brick two story house near Fremont that still stands. I had always been told that my family originated from Ireland, but as I am now posted in the Midlands (Northamptonshire, England I have found that the surname Barnes orginated in this area. If I could find out anything later on my great grandfathers family I might be able to trace the family to this area. There is a town called Catherine D'Barnes up above Stratford - Upon Avon. Any information that could be found in the next year would be greatly appreciated.

William STANLEY landed in NC in the Spring of 1780 from England. He settled in Johnston Co. by the 1790 census. Wife is unknown, but fathered at least 3 sons, James, George, and; Dave. James married Sarah? BRADBERRY, daughter of James Bradberry of Wayne Co. They were wed ca 1805 and lived in Johnston Co. where my gggranpa, James Bradberry Stanley, was born June 27, 1809. I am searching for information on the families of my 6-G grandparents, Francis and Mary ROUNDTREE. Francis left a will in Johnston County, NC in 1748. His son, Cader Roundtree, was my 5-G grandfather. Cader married Penelope RENFROW, who was b. ca 1774 in NC. I found Cader in the 1790 census of Beaufort Co, NC; 1800 and 1810 census of Wayne Co, NC. By 1820 the family had moved down into Morgan Co, Georgia, where Cader died in August of 1821. Any information you may have concerning ROUNDTREE families of North Carolina would be appreciated. I am looking for the ancestors of Edmund Coor, my great grandfather, who was born about 1811 in North Carolina according to the 1880 census and family tradition. He died about January 17, 1895, in Wayne County. He married first Anna Mariah COX, daughter of Levi Cox, prior to 1838, and they had eight children. Anna Mariah Cox Coor died between the 1880 census and January 4, 1882, when Edmund Coor remarried (he was 69 or 70 years old at the time!) to Adrianna Hooks. They had five children, including my grandmother, Annie Eugenia Coor, who married Milford Aycock. They are buried in the Aycock cemetery in northwestern Wayne County.

Searching for info and records on all descendants of the SASSER family. This family first settled in adjoining Johnston Co. and moved into Wayne Co. by the 1770's. The family spread from here to almost every state in the nation with the largest concentrations still in NC and other concentrations in GA, FL, AL, KY, AR, TX, MS, LA, and TN. Former US Senator James R. Sasser is a descendant of this family and also the Wayne Co. Sheriff.

I am researching GIDDENS, BRITT, and TAYLOR from North Carolina. John Giddens was born in the mid 1700's and md Sarah Taylor. They had at least 5 children, but I do not know all of their names. I find reference to the fifth child, and that is why I say there were at 5. They had a son Mitchell who md Letisha Britt. From what info I have they had 10 children. The oldest chid was John William Giddens. He md Sallie ?. The other names I have are Sarah Jane, James Thomas, George Lullen, Patience Elizabeth, Henry Clay, David Crockett, Mary Susan, Rustus Westley, Sophia Alice Gerome. From John's md there were 5 children- John Dawson Md Annie ?, Monroe C., Lewis W., Della F., Sally C. John Dawson only had one child that I could find. Robert Clyde. Robert md Grace Downing from Alabama. They had only one child. Robert Jr. That is my husband.

I am trying to find anything I can on the name Tomberlin, Tumberling, Or Tumberlin. The last I heard is the Tomberlins came to America from England in 1669 . The first were John and William Tomberlin, John married and had 4 children, John, Moses, William, and Thomas. Thomas lived in Wayne Co., NC from 1754 to 1841. Well this is as far back as I can get.
