REAVES posted by Cheryl Reaves White on Wednesday, May 19, 1999

I'm trying to trace my Reaves family tree. My oldest known ancestor is James Stephen REAVES Sr. who was born January 10, 1838 in Goldsborough, NC, died July 1, 1910 in Coalgate, Ok. I have no information on his parents, except the family tradition that his father came from Germany and his mother came from Denmak. I would appreciate any information anyone can give me on his parents or his siblings, if any. James Stephen Reaves Sr. married Bille Ried BARN. Their only known child was George Columbus Reaves, born Januray 12,1890; died February 12, 1940, I assume there must have been a male child named James Stephen Reaves Jr., but I have no information on him. At some time my Reaves family moved from NC to Arkansas by way of Oklahoma. Cheryl Reaves White, e-mail gatwood@bellsouth.net

BRYANT, HATCHER, PENINGTON, PENNINGTON posted by Lorien Gunsallus on Sunday, June 27, 1999

Seeking anyone who knows of this family that appears in the 1850 Wayne Co NC census. Page 172, North side of the Neuse, dwelling 396 Bryant Penington age 42, no occupation, b. NC Saletha Penington, age 31, b NC Charrity Hatcher, age 35, b. NC Sarah Hatcher, age 5, b. NC My Bryant ancestors came from somewhere in NC and settled before 1835 in Sevier Co. TN. Several coincidences in the above census record spark my interest. First, the fairly unusual name Saletha is also used in my Bryant line. Second, my Bryants married Pennington and Hatchers in TN. I'm wondering if there is any connection. If anyone knows about this family, please email me at MegLinGun@aol.com. Thanks!

WATSON posted by Dr. John Watson on Sunday, June 27, 1999

I am researching the family of Ezekiel and Elizabeth Watson. Ezekiel was born in Wayne Co. about 1795. Cannot find any info on who his parents were. I have found out that they moved to Stokes Co where their first child Thomas W. was born. They had two more children born in NC James W. and John Watson. Ezekiel moved his family to Newton Co GA around 1837. I have verified this from census and birth records. Their remaining children, Sarah Jane, Mary Ann, Nancy J. and William Jackson were all born in GA. Would appreciate any help that could be given on this one. Thanks
