According to later census records that I have both of his parents were born in North Carolina also. I have reason to believe that his family might of been from the Wayne County area. I am seeking any information that would prove the parentage of Richard JENNETT, born cir 1819 in NC. It is believed that his parents are Henry Jennett/Gennet and Sarah Cox, who were married in 1816 in Contentnea, Wayne County NC. Sarah Cox is the daughter of Richard Cox and Susannah Kinsey and was dismissed from meeting for marrying a non-Quaker(apologies if I've used the wrong terminology here). In the 1820 census for Wayne County, there are three Jennett families(there spelled "Ginnet"): Elisabeth Jennett, aged 45 and up with one female 16-26 Henry Jennett, one male less than 10; 1 female 16-26, 1 female less than 10 and one female 26-45. William Jennett, 1 male less than 10, 1 male 10-16, 2 males 16-26 and 1 male 26-45. 4 females less than 10, 1 female 10-16 and 1 female 26-45. By 1840, Sarah Jennett and Richard are in Upson County GA. living next door to each other. Henry has died and Richard has married Ally Macdonald. We can trace the family thereafter through the Kinsey line who are Sarah's maternal line. Louis Kinsey was Sarah's brother-in-law and Susannah Kinsey Cox, Richard Cox's wife, is living with them by 1850. I know this is detailed, but we've hit a real stone wall trying to establish Richard Jennett's parentage. Any leads or ideas would be really appreciated at this point. His aunt Rhodia and Mattie (Matt) Mathis raised he and his sister. He married in 1916 to Lottie Estelle Mclamb born 1899 of Sampson CO. He is related to the Fennell family of Goldsboro, NC. Looking for a Josiah Brown. A JB shows up on the 2nd Reg 6th Co. of the Wayne Re. but no place on census of Wayne. He is my GGGGrandfather, was in Mississippi in 1830. Also, a Josiah Brown was married twice in Mecklenburg Co. -- once in 1814 and again in 1825 to a Sarah Smith. When he came to Ms. his wife was Sarah ? could be Smith. Any info will be helpfull.

Charlotte Pearson, born 1822, probably in either Wayne or Johnston Co. was second wife of Wiley Crumpler. Charlotte had three children: Nancy, b. 1847; Sally, b. ca. 1850 and Joseph Wiley, b. ca. 1852. Charlotte died, probably no later than about 1854. The family lived in the Belfast Community. I have a Joseph Sasser b 1848 m. Elephair Nichols. I think this line is related to Lewis Sasser b. 1848. He probably had a 1st wife, then m. Matilda Talton in 1895. She was only 17, I believe. His son Harrison Sasser, his son Lewis Sasser b.1917- my father said he was cousin to Jasper Sasser who is from Joseph's line. Joseph's son is Johnathan Harrison Sasser, his son Jasper b.1911. I cannot find anything on Lewis Sasser d. 1913, buried next to Matilda Talton in Wayne Co. There is another Lewis Sasser buried in another cememtery; not sure if wayne co. one I think was married to a pate-tate woman..

I am looking for information on Thomas Thompson born c. 1818. He is listed on the 1860 Census for Columbus County as having been born in Wayne County. He was married to Sarah Ann DYSON by about 1844 when they had their first child, Elizabeth. They had a total of 11 children according to the census data, the last one, Delitha, in 1871. 1820 Census data shows an Everitt Thompson and a Thomas Thompson (too old to be mine) but both households have a male child the right age to be Thomas. I'm looking for any additional info on these two families, to determine if in fact one of them is the ancestor I'm looking for! thanks for any help!

I am in Odessa, Texas and I'm researching my father's family; James Wiggins could someone there check marriage records for me for James Albert Wiggins and Sarah Jordon probably in 1868. Also, how would I go about getting a death certificate for each of them. Since they were in Grantham county in the 1880 and 1900 census I suspect they died in Wayne county. I am researching a line which traces back to a Daniel DEAN (1750-1801) records indicate that he lived in Wayne County, NC and was married to Sarah ??. According to family info regarding an1824 will in Goldsboro, he had a son George Dean (1775-1824) who married Charlotte (Lottie) SMITH (1782-1879) in the year 1800. They had a daughter Elizabeth Dean (1809-1884) who married James BUNTIN (1805-1862) in the year 1831. Their daughter Elizabeth (Eliza) Jane Buntin (1841-1920) was married to my g-g-grand father William Henry Reynolds. This marriage occurred in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. According to family records Daniel Dean was 1st Corporal, then Seargeant in the Revolutionary War, in the company of Captain John Lewis and Captain Machen Boswell, and in the 2nd Virginia State Regiment, commanded by Colonel Gregory Smith and later by Colonel William Brent. He enlisted 05-11-1777, for 3 years and was discharged 11-20-1779. We also have the information that one of these Deans was a Methodist minister in a church near Goldsboro, NC. If anyone has any further information I would very much appreciate hearing from them. Thank you .

I am a descendant of Stephen Barnes and Sydney Horn. Sydney's mother was a Vick. This couple migrated to Randolph County Indiana and settled. They were Quakers and left North Carolina after freeing their slaves, as did serveral in their congreagation. This couple is also related to Middleton, Moore, Campbell and other early migrating settlers. Some of their Barnes slaves came with them from the area as free people.

I just discovered your Wayne Co, NC website so hope there are still PATE/HOWELL researchers out there. I am researching PATE ancestors with roots in WAyne Co, NC. I recognize some of our family in the 1880 Wayne Co, Stoney Creek census as William and Smithy PATE with three children at that time. These are my husband's grgrandparents. Ten years earlier (1870) the census shows PATE/HOWELL in the same hh. Am trying to find out if our Smithy was a HOWELL. Would like to exchange data. Ruby Price

Seeking information on Nathan COLTON. I believe he left Wayne Co., NC in the 1820's bound for Crawford Co., IL in 1820's. He married Mary Polly HOATES (or HOUTES) in Crawford Co., IL in 1828. He may have traveled with the COX family and may be connected to the HAND and NEWLIN families who are later connected in Crawford Co., IL. Any information on any Colton family members would be greatly appreciated.

I am searching for Hamilton's of Wayne County. I know that Guy and Ann Hamilton lived there with their nine children. Barnabas, Sarah, Duncan, Hardin(or Bardin) Unity, Edith Darkis Nancy and John. per will of Guy's dated 1790 recorded Goldsboro, Wayne County, N.C. What happened to all the children and who did they marry? I only know of my ancestor John. And looks like Barnabas stayed in Wayne County as he keeps showing up on Census

I am looking for information on William Thomas KEYS/KEYES who received a land grant in Wayne County, NC around 1760. I have yet to find a database on-line that lists such transactions. Can anyone out there help me? KEYS/KEYES immigrated (again) to Nova Scotia in 1784. I am trying to make the link back to Scotland/Ireland, but need to cover his years in NC first. Any help would be appreciated.

Searching for descendants of William Dickson Pearsall and Mary Ann Outlaw. The 1870 census of Wayne Co, NC, Indian Springs Twp, reflects: W. D. Pearsall, Age 30, M, W; Mary A. Pearsall, Age 33, F, W; James E. Pearsall, Age 12, M, W; Hepsey E. Pearsall, Age 10, F, W; Norman Pearsall, Age 8, M, W; Dickson Pearsall, Age 4, M, W; and Sue S. Pearsall, Age 2, F, W. The 1880 census reflects them as residing in Grantham Twp. A family genealogy "Whitfield, Bryan, Smith and Related Families", reflects that William Dickson Pearsall md 1st Mary Ann Outlaw and that he married 2nd on 29 Apr 1956, Sara Marie Whitfield. A letter dated Feb 20, 1933, from one E. H. Pearsall, residing in Princeton, NC, states that William Dickson Pearsall married 29 Apr 1856, Mary Anne Outlaw. The letter also states that Mary Anne Outlaw died 11 May 1912. One James E. Pearsall and Louphemia Cogdell were married June 15, 1884. Seeking descendants of these families. Secking info on descendants of Thomas Daniels (1865-1918) who is buried in the Trent FWB Church Cemetery at Merrtitt, NC. His son, Earlie R. Daniels, lived in the Goldsboro area. His wife was librarian there in the city. I think they had a son named Earl.

I seek any information on Woodard Cook, born in Wayne Co. 1875 or 1888 and who in 1830 lived in the Captain Daniel district. He and his wife Temperance deeded some property to the Methodist Episcopal church in 1831. I am very interested in any information on this man (couple) especially if they had children, if so names?
